Key DPG messages/Priorities
Objectives
- Improve the coordination of Development Partner programmes that support tourism sector development in Uganda at macro, meso and micro levels (including closer collaboration in the planning and design of new projects and the adoption of new/updated donor guidelines).
- Share lessons learnt from studies, reviews and impact assessments conducted in Uganda and, where relevant, further afield.
- Improve the alignment of Development Partner strategies and programmes with those of Government of Uganda so as to better support achievement of NDP III objectives. In accordance with the Partnership principles agreed with Government of Uganda, Tourism Sector Donor Group members will seek to integrate project assistance within sector wide approaches (where these exist) and ensure that project aid is not used as a lever to influence Line Ministries to undertake expenditures, which have not been identified as priority areas by the sector working group.
- Achieve a highly developed tourism sector by monitoring the implementation and evaluating the impact of GoU programmes whose goals are to support development of the sector through participation in joint reviews, institutional/field visits, dialogue with government partners, civil society and the private sector.
- Agree and present a coherent Development Partner view to GoU, as and when appropriate, on critical issues arising in tourism sector development.
