The specific objectives of the group include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide a forum for discussion, sharing of experiences, up-to-date information and analysis of programmes, policies, legislation and reports to agreed international instruments that have an impact on the status of women and girls in Uganda and wider gender issues.

• Liaise and co-ordinate with the national machinery for gender (MGLSD, SD sector working group and sub-committees) to promote coordination, harmonization and alignment of interventions.

• Agree on common positions regarding gender issues and present them to the Government of Uganda, other fora and other stakeholders, including civil society fora and Development Partner thematic groups, in representation of all GDPG members.

• Provide space for Development Partners and counter-parts in government or civil society to liase on specific issues/areas of work, for example joint monitoring of projects/programmes/thematic areas.

• Through the Chair or other designated members, liaise with other Development Partner Co-ordination Groups to provide a mechanism for integration of gender.

• Liaise and present issues to the LDPG to be addressed at higher political levels. In turn, the LDPG may ask the GDPG for inputs on particular topics.
