The Local Development Partners’ Group (LDPG) was established in 2006 as the apex forum for coordination of development issues in Uganda. The LDPG coordinates Development Partners’ engagement with the Government of Uganda on overall issues related to development cooperation at the policy, program and project levels.

The objective of the LDPG is to promote effectiveness and harmonization of development assistance in support of national development goals and systems in Uganda by:

  • Coordinating Development Partners’ joint dialogue with the Government;
  • Improving linkages to key budget and planning processes and the use of national systems for programming, financing and review;
  • Facilitating the use of joint reviews, joint analytic work, joint missions and other harmonization initiatives;
  • In-depth discussion on development issues/challenges that are of mutual interest.

The objective of the LDPG is responding to international agreements and commitments on development effectiveness, including the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness (2005) and the Accra Agenda for Action (2008), the Busan Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation (2012), and the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation.
